An Autumn Wedding at The Shack Revolution in Hereford

A VENUE I WAS EXCITED TO SHOOT AT

The Shack Revolution is one of those venues that feels a bit alternative, a bit industrial, a bit more rock’n’roll than the French weddings I’m used to. Don’t get me wrong – I love the French weddings, the châteaux, the romantic vibe. But I was also very much looking forward to shooting something different. It’s such a great way to explore your creativity and step out of your comfort zone.

Another Side of the Wedding Industry

Shooting at the Shack Revolution with Mi Kelly

I was incredibly lucky that a dear friend of mine, Mi Kelly, invited me to join her in shooting R&L’s wedding at this gorgeous venue. Mi and I have a similar way of shooting – we connect on how we see things – but the main difference is in how we edit. That means working with her is an absolute joy, because our brains function in a similar way and we just get each other.

Honestly, Mi has been such a huge support since I moved to the UK and started rebuilding my photography business here. She’s introduced me to other photographers and vendors, and she’s given me second shooting opportunities to help grow my network. She’s one hell of a cheerleader, and I’m so lucky to call her a colleague and a friend. She even trusted me to redesign her entire website, which was such a fun project – and we’re both so happy with how it turned out!

The Upside of an Untraditional Wedding

As you might already know, I really value weddings that feel personal – that reflect the couple’s personality and story, rather than just ticking boxes. I’m not against tradition at all, but I do believe everything should be intentional. R&L’s wedding at the Shack Revolution was a perfect example of that – a celebration that made sense for them, filled with meaningful details rather than trends for the sake of trends.

An Alternative Autumn Wedding at the Shack Revolution

There are certain venues photographers know about – some because they’re iconic for a certain style, others because they’ve been captured beautifully by well-known creatives. When I discovered the Shack Revolution, I knew I wanted to shoot there one day. It just looked so cosy and stylish, with an alternative twist I don’t often see in France.

So when Mi told me she had a Halloween-themed wedding booked there, I was instantly excited. I could already feel my creativity buzzing – and it didn’t disappoint!

An Amazing Team of Vendors

All the vendors involved truly deserve a shoutout. The Shack Revolution team were absolutely lovely to work with, and I’m really hoping I get the chance to return soon. The couple booked an amazing live musician, Lily, who was a joy to work with and incredibly talented. Dinner was served by the Wagyu Burger Truck (a total crowd-pleaser!), and we even had a fire breather, the incredible April Fire Moon, who wowed everyone at the end of the night.

The bride’s makeup was done by Kate Reynolds, whose work was stunning – and I actually had the pleasure of working with her again on a styled shoot a few months later. We also had a fab videographer with us, Ruffe Media, who I got along with straight away – we bonded over our shared love of F1!

R&L and Their Intentional, Personal Celebration

R&L are a couple who truly made their day their own. With her purple hair, their tattoos, and the Halloween theme, it was unapologetically them – and I loved every second. There were pumpkins, celestial touches like moons and stars, and even a Guitar Hero set up for those little in-between moments. And to top it off? They brought their adorable dachshunds along for the day – which made my animal-loving heart very happy.

I’d Love to Go Back!

Whether it’s for another alternative celebration or something a bit more traditional, I’d absolutely love to photograph another wedding at the Shack Revolution. If you’re planning your day there and are looking for someone to capture it in a way that feels personal, relaxed, and real – feel free to reach out. I’d love to hear all about your story!
