A Newborn Photography Session in Leamington Spa

CELEBRATING A NEW LIFE
A few weeks ago, I met a family for a newborn session in Leamington Spa. Becoming a parent is a whirlwind—staring at your baby in awe, marveling at every tiny move, and thinking, Oh my god, we made this… And then, there’s the shift in routine.
Time feels unpredictable in those first weeks. Some days crawl by as you navigate cries and sleepless nights, while others fly past in a blur.
Amidst it all, pausing to celebrate this new life matters. One day, when these moments feel distant, you’ll be grateful for photos that bring you right back to them.

You don’t always realize how precious a moment is until it becomes a memory.
Becoming a Mother
I always feel incredibly honored to be invited into my clients’ homes to capture such intimate moments. I also know that some new mums can feel a little overwhelmed at the thought of being photographed. Postpartum hormones are all over the place, and the rapid changes from pregnancy and childbirth can leave you feeling disoriented. As empowering as becoming a mother is, it doesn’t always come with a surge of self-confidence.
From Two… to Three
As a lifestyle photographer, I believe it is my job to create an atmosphere where you feel your best. If you’ve followed my work, you’ll know I don’t pose people—I guide them with gentle prompts instead. For maternity and newborn sessions, I focus on using light and surroundings to highlight new mums in the most flattering way. But ultimately, what I’m really there to capture are the quiet, love-filled moments—the way parents take in every tiny detail of their baby and the unspoken connection they share as they step into this new chapter together.
A Lovely Family in Leamington Spa
When this adorable family reached out for a newborn photography session in Leamington Spa, I was thrilled— they seemed so warm and loving, and they lived just down the road from me too!
After a cuppa and quick chat, I explained to them how a session usually unfolds, and reassured them—babies run on their own schedule, and we always follow their lead. If they need a feed, a cuddle, or a nappy change, we pause and take our time. And if they’re really unsettled, we simply reschedule. Babies pick up on the energy around them, so keeping things relaxed helps everyone.
We had such a lovely time, chatting as I photographed them—sharing stories about how they announced their pregnancy and how it felt to step into parenthood. Their baby was the absolute sweetest, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel a little broody by the end of the session!
The Beauty of In-Home Photos: Capturing Your Family’s Story
If you’re considering having your photos taken, you might wonder whether a studio shoot is the better option. Personally, I believe an in-home session adds a much more personal touch. It becomes a reminder of a special chapter in your life. I know I was always so curious as a child to see photos of my childhood home from a time I couldn’t remember.
Besides, it makes your life easier. As new parents, you’ll quickly realize how much planning and effort goes into leaving the house with your baby. Plus, you’ll likely feel more at ease in your own home than in a studio you’ve never been to before.
Take a Break and Create Memories
I can’t stress enough how important it is to capture these fleeting moments. Whether it’s your partner taking photos or a professional session, you won’t regret having pictures of you and your baby—only not having them. Often, one parent is behind the camera, so be mindful to step in front of it too. These early days go by so quickly, and one day, you’ll be grateful to have those memories to look back on.

MY HIGHLIGHTS
A few photos in the living room, some in the nursery, and others in the parents’ bedroom… capturing a typical day as new parents.
